Bruce Cassidy Sr. | CEO
Sarasota Green Group Chief Executive Officer Bruce A. Cassidy, Sr., was the founder of Excel Mining Systems LL( (“EMS”), a manufacturer of roof support systems for the mining industry located in Bowerston, Ohio. Mr. Cassidy served as Chief Executive Officer of EMS from 1991 until its sale in 2007 to Orica Mining Services, on Australia-based company. In 2008, Mr. Cassidy become President and CEO of Minovo North and South Americas, a subsidiary of Orica, and served in that position until his retirement in December 2009. In 2007, he joined the Selinsky Force Industrial Services Board of Managers. His family partnership acquired Selinsky in 2008, an Ohio company that specializes in plant maintenance, industrial construction, steel erection, heavy rigging and hauling, and equipment rental. Additionally, a sister company, Defcon, was acquired in 2010 to specialize in plant maintenance for pulverizing equipment processes used by coal-fired power plants. In 2009, Bruce purchased The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida through Excel Golf, a family partnership. The course was ranked number one in Golf Digest’s 2006 list of Best New Private Golf Courses. Mr. Cassidy acted as founder of Ohio-based Premier Bank and Trust and served on the board from February 2010 to year end 2016.
Mr. Cassidy originally hails from Jefferson County, Ohio, and currently resides in Sarasota, Florida.
John M Snyder | President
Sarasota Green Group President John M. Snyder comes with over 35 years’ experience and sustained success in the areas of sales and marketing, manufacturing and distribution. In his role, Mr. Snyder oversees the national and global operations for all organic, disease control products, keeping alert to new marketing opportunities and expanding geographic markets. In generating sales through distributors and developing distributor loyalty, he is able to generate consistent sales growth with major marketers. He makes strong contributions to pricing policies and strategies and ensures proper attention is devoted to all levels of distribution.
Prior to joining Sarasota Green Group, Mr. Snyder served as President of five different companies, one involving the sourcing, manufacturing and importing of electronics and selling to Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club.
Raised in Western Kansas, John attended Kansas State University on a full athletic football scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1964 and taught and coached high school in Kansas for three and a half years while working towards a Master’s Degree. John then moved to Wichita, Kansas, to be co-director of the Cessna Aircraft Employee’s Club, overseeing all facilities and organizations of athletics and clubs for 11,000 Cessna Aircraft members. After three years with Cessna, John joined Kellogg Co. as Regional Sales Manager, calling on key accounts and large store chains.
Snyder mode his mark with Xerox Corporation and excelled as a Business System Specialist before starting a new food manufacturing company – American Frozen Foods, Inc., which was sold after four years to AMF-Uncle Ben’s Foods. During this time, he solely interviewed, hired and managed food brokers in 73% ACV of the USA Food Market. In 1979, Snyder entered the food brokerage business in Wichita, Kansas, as a 51 % owner of Fowler-Oburn Food Brokerage Company. In 1983, he sold his interests and moved to Des Moines, Iowa, to take over R.S. Prewitt Company Food Brokerage. As President over the Iowa and Nebraska regions, which covered outlets in eight states, he was responsible for $375 million in sales.
From 1983 to 2004, John went through four mergers and continued as President, finishing under the Advantage Sales and Marketing Company, which is now the largest food brokerage business in the country. During his food brokerage years, John represented and managed over 80 national companies, including General Foods/Kraft, all Unilever Divisions, Dole, StarKist, Dial, Church & Dwight, and Barilla, and others. Mr. Snyder has received numerous awards and recognitions, such as Broker of the Year, National Soles Leader and Broker Advisory Board Member.
John is married and has three grown children. He and his wife live in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mark Burrell | Partner
Sarasota Green Group Partner Mark Burrell was the founder and owner of Progressive Designs, a multi-channel marketing business specializing in brood channel marketing. The company’s programs included advertisement development, retail sales strategies, data analytics and corporate identity programs. It was featured in the national publication called “The SAM’S Club Source,” which is a Wal-Mart company publication. In 2002, Progressive Designs was recognized as an Inc. 500 award winning company, one of the fastest growing privately-owned companies in the United States. Prior Inc. 500 companies have included such iconic brands as Microsoft, Oracle, Zappos, Patagonia, E*Trade, Intuit, Domino’s Pizza and many other major brands. In 2004, Progressive Designs’ intellectual property was sold to the Wal-Mart companies and Mr. Burrell served as a global consultant to the Wal-Mart companies after the company sale.
Mark was a two time NCAA National Wrestling Champion his junior and senior year of college. In 2002, he was inducted into the NCAA Wrestling Hall of Fame. He trained and lived at the New York Athletic Club (NYAC) as part of the team USA Wrestling Olympic development program sponsored by the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. He also spent a year at the California University of Pennsylvania doing graduate work and serving as the assistant wrestling coach under Coach Robin Ersland.
Mark has been self-employed for over 25 years and in 1997, was honored at the White House with the Small Business Administration Region Seven Minority Advocate of the Year Award for his effort to support minority-owned companies around the United States.
Mr. Burrell is originally from Des Moines, Iowa, and currently resides in Bradenton, Florida.
Roderick Thompson | Key Account Executive
Sarasota Green Group Sales Executive Roderick Thompson has nearly twenty years of experience overseeing multi-million dollar retail sales operations in manufacturing, retail sales and media industries. Over twelve years with the Amerisol Paper Company, Rod was responsible for all manufacturing production accounting, sales, marketing and distribution of products. He developed a sales territory and built strong client relationships within a highly competitive environment through networking and incentive programs, along with developing multilingual marketing and advertising campaigns to support the company’s expansion into diverse consumer markets.
Rod’s experience with the Greenspire Global Inc. product line spans over two years through his work with the company as a sales representative. As Sarasota Green Group’s sales executive, Rod is responsible for leading sales efforts nationwide.
Mr. Thompson is a graduate of Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and currently resides in Sacramento, California.
